Residency and One Medical

Search

One Medical is on a mission to transform healthcare – and we need dedicated primary care physicians like you to make it happen. When you join One Medical after completing your residency, you’ll join a community of clinicians who will help you thrive in your career and use technology that was custom-built for physicians. Most importantly, you’ll get to build lasting relationships with patients and provide high-quality care that has a lasting impact.

How we support new physicians

From orientation and onboarding to continuing education and leadership development, One Medical is with you every step of the way. We know how important continued learning and development are for all clinicians, but in particular, those who join us after their residency and are still developing their approach to primary care.

One Medical has a robust 12 week on-boarding process that supports clinicians, with one on one support and peer mentoring. You create an individualized learning plan with your manager to help you develop the skills you need and want over time. You’ll also have access to our primary care and domain experts across the country through our Slack channels – quick consults, mentoring and advice are just a message away.

Ongoing learning and development

Learning doesn’t stop at onboarding. One Medical has a dedicated clinical learning team that offers a variety of educational programs and opportunities to support clinician learning, leadership development and professional growth. Clinicians participate in weekly clinical rounds and structured clinician-focused programs, with the opportunity to earn CMEs.

You’ll also get an annual continuing medical education allowance and access to our institutional UptoDate subscription. As you grow your career, there are both formal and informal opportunities to focus on your passion and develop leadership skills by participating in domain working groups, such as pediatrics or cardiovascular health and other functional or clinical roles.

The Interview Process

One Medical’s interview process may feel different from other organizations –and that’s on purpose. Our process is designed for us to learn more about you as much as it is for you to learn about us. We don’t simply want to assess your practical skills, we want to see how our values (what we call our DNA) align with yours, and if you demonstrate the competencies that we know make clinicians successful. Additionally, our recruiting team is there every step of the way to set you up for success, answer your questions and make sure you feel prepared going into each conversation.

So what does this look like? If you’re selected to move forward in our interview process, your recruiter will guide you through the following steps, if appropriate:

1-2 phone interviews with someone from the recruiting team

A video interview with a clinician

Final round interviews with clinical leadership staff of the district you are interviewing for

From end to end, our process typically takes anywhere from two to four weeks to complete, based on schedules, availability and your timeline. We typically start interviewing PGY-3s and fellows during the fall for a start date in the following year.

“I've been able to develop my mental health provider skills by getting on-the-job training to be a facilitator for the Stress and Anxiety series program that we offer patients. I'm also enrolled in the One Medical Health and Wellness Coaching school for free! This will allow me to sit for the board exam to become a National Board Certified Health and WellnessCoach. As a result I will develop even more skills to support our patients.”

Esosa Imasuen, MD. The George Washington University Hospital, 2020

"It is an adjustment practicing independently after residency, but I have never felt alone or unsupported. From day one, office leaders checked on me often to make sure I had everything I needed, and our admin and lab team members wentabove and beyond helping me adjust to my role. I got to meet the other local providers through our weekly conferences and felt like I could reach out with any questions at any time."

Adrianne Lee-Rodriguez, MD. Kaiser Permanente - Woodland Hills, 2023
